My brother is back in town

My brother and his wonderful fiance came to stay with me last night. David and Kathy arrived in Brisbane earlier this week for a two week break from managing their Pizza Hut stores in Alice Springs. These guys know how to work and really deserve this much needed holiday.

Last night Michelle and I took them out to Lonestar for dinner and we polished off some brewskies and wine. It’s great to have David and Kathy staying with me for the next week and a bit. They make me laugh all the time and they have hearts of gold.

Tomorrow we are celebrating their recent engagement by having a party of sorts. I can’t wait it should be a great day.

Following our usual routine, Gerrod and I headed down to Garden City for some lunch today. It’s always a bit of a struggle to find an undercover car park but usually we are lucky enough to get one within 5 minutes of driving around. It took a little longer today but eventually we happened to come upon a car spot just as someone was getting ready to leave.

Gerrod flicks on his indicator and we wait patiently until the car had pulled out. At the last minute this “old codger” (at least 75 years old) snakes us and steals our spot. I got a little upset and got out of the car and went up to him. As I approached he got really mad and slammed his door and locked himself in the car. A tense standoff occurred as I positioned myself next to his door so that he couldn’t get out. His wife, convinced him that he was in the wrong and should leave. Justice prevailed.

I can just imagine what the “A Current Affairs” story would have been had the old guy started a fist fight.

Young Guy Beats Up On Defenceless Old Guy

I would have defended myself and been one of those guys who pushes the camera man over and swears a lot. “Piss off Ray. I didn’t do anything wrong.” is what I would say.

It begins …

I’ve been back at work for one day now and already the stress levels have risen. Within minutes of walking in to the office yesterday I was assaulted by the extremely loud vocals of Kernie and immediately my blood started boiling.

I’m a “fair minded guy who can tolerate a lot” but some things just get on my nerves. For instance, the power spiked at our office several times yesterday causing our computers to switch off and then on. This meant not only did we lose all our work but we then had to wait 10 minutes while we rebooted and setup our work environments again.

Needless to say we were slightly pissed that our work couldn’t afford an UPS. But to add insult to injury Kernie pipes up and says “That’s why I like working on a laptop. The battery kicks in and I can keep working uninterrupted.” That was the last thing we wanted to hear from the loud talker but this is where it gets interesting. He then gets up from his desk and wastes 10 minutes as if his computer was rebooting like everyone elses. Work uninterrupted my ass.

It’s time for a new job.

Smooth sailing from here on in

My best mate Gerrod just had his bucks celebrations this weekend with a group of about 15 headed up to the Hyatt at Coolum for some golf, good fun, food and drink.

It was a great weekend where mates just had a great time joking around and playing some miserable golf. It was nice to stay in 5 star accomodation. Our units were nice and spacious, the swimming pools were numerous and the golf course was fantastic. The only drawback was that some of the Hyatt’s service staff were a bit miserable toward us.

It seemed as if the boys had a great time and I would like to thank everyone for coming along and making this weekend for Gerrod special.
