Our flight over was an exhausting 17 hours long. We only got a short amount of sleep and were subjected to a horrible in-flight movie not once but twice. My advice, stay away from the movie “Last Shot”.
We arrived at LA about 10am local time (4:00am AEST) and managed to get through LAX customs real easy. We then spent the next two hours trying to find a cheap way to our hotel in Beverly Hills. We managed to find a shuttle service that took us there. On the way we observed how expansive the city is and how generally unattractive it is. Beverly Hills appears to be one of the nicer areas. As soon as we checked in it was straight to bed. Aghhhh…
In the evening we ventured out on foot down Beverly Drive toward Rodeo Drive. It was absolutely beautiful walking along seeing the sun slowly set. We picked up some dinner and supplies before heading home for a full nights sleep.
Today, we took the bus and the metro (subway/tube) up to Universal Studios. Word of Advice: Have exact change for bus trips. It’s taken us some time to break the $100 bills we had but we now finally have some $1 bills and the like for tipping.
Universal Studios is an elaborate version of the Gold Coast’s Movie World. Everything is the same but with a bigger budget. We enjoyed “The Mummy” attraction and the “Van Heisling” haunted house. Michelle and I were frightened a few times by the people who jumped out at us. By mid-afternoon rain had set in. We finished up at Universal Studios and caught the Metro back down to Hollywood. We are now at an internet cafe on the Hollywood Star Walk. This part of town is pretty dodgy really. It kind of looks like Surfer’s Paradise too.
Tomorrow we’re hoping to head out to Disneyland. It all depends on the weather we thinks.

Saturday night Michelle and I headed around to her parents place for a bbq. Her brother and his girlfriend Micalie also joined us. It was an awesome feast with the best porterhouse steak I’ve ever had. I ate too much however and was feeling the effects of that decision the next day.
