Employment bound

Hi everyone!!!

Just a quick one as I’m on my lunch break. I had the best time in Scotland and intend to write up a detailed account on the weekend, complete with photos.

I’ve also started my first London job this week. I’m on a 13 week contract doing what I do best, coding.

At last I have some money coming in … 3 months of no pay and living and holidaying in expensive cities sure does take a hit on the old savings.

Now it’s time to start partying … money, money, money…… money :)

Big thanks to Gerrod for the interim update. You got more comments on that story than I ever had :)

I don’t know about you, but I was ready for a new headline after reading “In search of monsters…” every day for the last week-and-a-bit.

Ben has arrived back safely from Scotland, albeit a bit tired after a week of late nights and partying. However, to the dismay of Team BaM, their home internet connection is still not working, even though they’ve been paying for it for the last few weeks. The problem appears to be a faulty connection, and a “technician” is going to investigate the problem “soon”.

Hopefully it will all be resolved in the next few days, so that the team can start posting some more updates, and some pictures from Scotland!

(Hey, this admin site is schmick!)

While Michelle slaves away at work next week, I figured I would make the most of my freedom and head up to Scotland.

I’m heading up to Edinburgh on Monday and then starting a 5 day tour on Tuesday morning.

When I get back I’ll update stickfly with all of my adventures (including pics) but until then stickfly updates will be Michelles responsibility.

Have a great week everybody.

Being lucky enough to have Sky (cable) at the moment I get up every morning and watch my absolute favourite news program in the world – The O’Reilly Factor.

Bill O’Reilly is hugely popular among conservative Americans and while hiding safely in the comfort of his studio attacks anyone strong enough to have a differing opinion to him. In the absence of John Laws and Alan Jones, Bill is the man for me at the moment.

I thought I would involve myself in a test I prepared. The test is simple with only one step to it.

  • Watch as many episodes of the The O’Reilly Factor as I can before I find that I agree with him (even slightly) on any of the opinions he dribbles out.

I’m up to episode three now and yet I believe that voluntarily smashing my fingers in a car door and getting dragged along the road at 100 kms an hour is more likely to happen.

On another note, the UK are having their general election on Thursday. It looks like Tony has it hands down but hey we’ll wait and see.

Hampton Court Palace

Ben in the wonderful gardens at Hampton Court Palace

A must do on the London tourist rounds is a visit down to Hampton Court to check out the Royal palace.

Yesterday was a bank holiday, so Michelle and I along with Robyn and Michael (old work mate of Michelle’s) headed down on the train to the palace. It was a beautiful sunny day (a requirement for full enjoyment) and I must say that I wished I was a King back in the days when this place was in operation. Living here would have been absolutely killer.

The gardens are absolutely amazing and they even have a private maze that you are allowed to play in. Of course we finished it in record time.

The history of the palace is fascinating. They have 4 audio tours where you are free to navigate the different sections/wings of the palace. After doing an adult commentary on the Tudor Kitchens, Michelle and I decided to swap over for the childrens audio commentary. It was much better, doing the rounds having dragons, lions and paintings talk to you.
