A whole new city

Canary WharfLast night we headed out to Canary Wharf in London to meet up with Jamiee and Damian to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The area of Canary Wharf has an interesting history and its current disposition as an modern business district full of skyscrapers, shops and beautiful parks and promenades makes it a truly fascinating place to visit.

I highly recommend heading out to this district on a weeknight to experience the buzz of all the highpaid local workers finishing their days with a nice cold beer. I wish I had explored this place earlier.

Now onto the movie review, quite simply the best review on the web is right here. I second Kristy’s review and also rate the movie 9/10. It’s a really good fun. My only thumbs down is that it was hard to understand the lyrics while the Oompa Loompas were singing. The music was a little overbearing.

Also, not having read the book I was surprised to see the movies plot differed in part significantly to the original movie with Gene Wilder. I enjoyed this version so much more. Johnny Depp is amazing.

  1. you’re right ben. their enunciation was terrible. i suspect we missed quite a few gags there.

i wouldn’t have picked it as a ‘ben’ movie but i’m glad you enjoyed!
