After a month of hassels looking and negotiating a new place to live, Michelle and I finally moved into our one bedroom loft apartment in Chiswick last night.
Last Saturday, we enlisted the help of our friends Michael and Robyn, and we loaded up their car for two trips up to Shepherd’s Bush where we dumped our stuff and ourselves for a few days until the contracts could be signed for our new place. That move was pretty painless and we enjoyed some Nando’s for lunch afterwards.
Not to be outdone, our friends John and Kirstin put their hand up last night to help us move from Shebu to Chiswick. I have to say that John stepped up and managed to load all our stuff into his car in one go. That’s 3 large 30kg+ suitcases, two hiking backpacks, 3 normal backpacks, a desktop computer, bedding, assorted bags of craps, me and a pedestal fan. Very impressive.
It’s exhausting work moving all that stuff but the payoff for last night was? Yep that ‘s right. Dinner at Nando’s.
After Nando’s we unpacked everything and hunkered in for our first night in at our very first place together (sans flatmate). It was a cold one too. We’re getting down to -5 degrees at night and it was -1 degrees at 8am this morning. That’s cold.
Thanks heaps to everyone offering their support and kind words over the last month.
The flat looks nice and cosy! You both must be so relieved to be settled. And to have the whole place to yourselves!
Wow that place looks so freakin’ funky! Absolutely full of English charm. Kristy and I would love to have a loft apartment.
Can’t wait to visit! :-)
Our door is always open Team Thomas.
Well not literally, it’s too cold :)
It looks adorable and homey, just the kind of place where you’d love to snuggle under a big quilt and read together. <sigh> Happy housewarming guys!
I was walking outside this morning at around 8am thinking – ‘Gee it’s cold, I wonder what the temperature is’. Get ready for a fun winter.
Where in Chiswick ?
Which side of the high road ?
Its a great spot.
The George IV, All Bar One, The Barley Mow, what used to be Cullins, Turnham Green Chinese(good salt and pepper squid), the never opened bookshop, English the Butcher, No. 94 Bus (Acton Green), The Springbok Cafe, The Kebab shop near Turnham Green Tube – the list is endless…
Oh so cosy :0)
I hope you are both very happy, in your new home together!
Yeah, we’ve survived two nights there now. We finished unpacking last night so that was cool.
It’s all nice and homey now. Ready to receive our first visitor next week – Big Daddy (my dad).
I compliment you on the use of the mirror in the living room to make the room appear larger.
It looks so very English charming and a home where love abounds. Enjoy your English castle!
