Goodbye and good luck to my school mate Jodie who is heading home to Brisbane today. After ten or so months nursing in Oxford, she’s looking forward to catching up with family and friends and enjoying some real sun – with warmth thrown in too. We’ll miss you Jodes.

Weekend Wrap Up

Sadly it’s time for a weekend wrap-up. Not that the weekend was sad. In fact, the bright blue sunny skies in London this weekend made it extra special. It’s a bit of a worry how much joy sunshine brings us now.

Feeling the need to make the most of every ray, I started Saturday by dusting the cobwebs off my sunnies and heading into town to browse the shops and just have a general wander. Saturday night Ben and I ate at a local Indian place and saw Fun with Dick and Jane, an averageish re-make starring Jim Carey. I also had great phone chats to my parents and friend Ang back home.

For the first time in a very long while, Ben actually showed signs on Sunday of wanting to go clothes shopping for things for himself. So we bussed into Covent Garden where he picked up some great post-Christmas sale bargains and finally a warm coat to get him through the second half of winter. Bet he’s relieved now that he’s got his annual shop out of the way ;)

Update

A couple members of our readership have asked why there have not been many updates lately. I offered the excuse that I haven’t done anything worth writing about but that prompted many responses of fury (maybe joking about fury). So here goes…

Monday morning I woke up at precisely 6:38am, yawned, turned the alarm off and thought about getting up for 5 minutes. About 5 minutes later I got out of bed and preceeded to turn the laptop on to check my mail. …. blah blah blah….Just joking about the detail. While I still probably write the odd article with that much detail I have learnt a few tricks about maintaining reader interest (then again you might have not read this far and moved onto the next blog).

Seriously, here’s what we’ve been up to in the last week or so.

  • I went around to my saffa friends to play his new xbox 360. Oh my goodness. This a great piece of machinery fun. We played boxing and project gotham racing for hours.
  • The new apple laptop (macbook pro) came out. I’ve spent about 3 days just salivating over that one.
  • I’ve been putting in about 4 hours a day after paid work, working on the getblogged.net open source project. This is the new blogging software that I’m writing (et al.) and will port stickfly.com to in the coming months.
  • We went around to Jaimee and Damian’s place for dinner last Friday. She cooked a ripping meal.
  • We achieved a whole lot of wedding organization. Booked honeymoon accomodation, hair n makeup, picked the suits, ordered a cake, started work on a gift registry and invitations, plus a whole ot more.
  • Managed to get a hold of my little sister in Toowoomba. She’s now less than 4 weeks from popping out my little niece or nephew. It was great to have a chat to her.

Work

Is it just me or is it seemingly impossible to get back into a work frame of mind since the xmas break?

I’ve been back a whole week now and I am suffering when it comes to anything requiring my concentration for more than 5 minutes.

Bring on the next round of holidays.

Yesterday we celebrated Lucy’s birthday at Mooks bar in Notting Hill.

Lucy And Michelle

Lucy has been fulfilling a life long dream up in Cambridge in an editorial role for a publishing house so it’s been a couple of months since we last saw her and catching up last night was real fun.
