New York, New York

Filed under: Adventuring Overseas| Travel & Holidays

The last few weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster ride for me.

The 5 week break from my current employment helped me realize it was time to move on. I wanted to get back into contracting so I handed in my resignation giving 4 weeks notice. It’s a scary but often necessary thing to do, as to secure a contract you often have to be available immediately. I didn’t enjoy the 2 weeks where I was applying, interviewing and waiting for a job, but was super relieved to secure myself a 6 month contract working for a bank at Canary Wharf.

Now, don’t be thinking that I’ll be fronting a teller and handed out cash… I’ll be doing more of what I usually do – .Net programming.

Stoked that I have a new contract, I’ve arranged to have a week between jobs (in two weeks time) so I can fly out to visit my bestest friends, Gerrod and Kristy.

2nd Avenue, NY

I’m sooooooo excited about heading back to NY, my favourite city in the world. I just can’t wait to hang with my buds, and do some of the things I didn’t get to do on my last visit.

The only sad thing about all of this, is that my wife, Michelle, won’t be able to join me. She’s my best friend and without her, it won’t be the same.

  1. w00t w00t! We’re super excited that you’re coming over B!

We also wish Michelle was coming – Michelle, don’t you think it’s time you resigned as well? You deserve a holiday! Go on, you know you want to… :-)

  2. Fabulous? Of course. But who will I play with when the boys challenge each other to an Xbox duel? I’ll miss you for sure.

  3. What bank will you grace your presence upon?

And what is the difference between “best” and “bestest” friends?

  4. Wow benji! I had no idea all of this was going on! Congrats on the new job and well done on having the courage to leave your old – it would have been too easy to sit on your laurels and sit it out for a while longer.

We should catch up in the near future – any free dates between now and mid Aug?

    Cheers

    Laura

  5. Yay! Trip to New York (sorry to hear that Michelle won’t be making it with you). Enjoy your trip.

  6. Hey mate glad to hear that you’ve found another job. I will let you know some updates about myself asap. Have fun in NY.
