Street Wars in London

It’s amazing how simple ideas can be so exciting. Street Wars is now a world wide phenomenon in which ordinary people signup to become street assassins. However, instead of using real weapons they use water pistols.

It’s been done in San Fran, New York, Vancouver and Venice and has finally made its way to London. If I had found out about it earlier I definitely would have signed up, but it starts today and runs for 3 weeks. So expect to see people in and around zones 1-4 being hammered with water bombs and pistols.

Check out more info on Street Wars here and specifically about the London game now in progress here.

Visiting Michelle’s Cousins

I’ve decided I’m going to try and be a little bit creative and start doing some video blog entries to show what we get up to over here. Today’s entry is my first attempt, so please don’t be to critical.

The video clip is 35mb in size so keep this in mind if you don’t have unlimited broadband.

Press the play button to start watching the video. The grey bar that grows indicates how much of the video has downloaded on to your system so if the play indicator gets to the end of the growing grey bar then you’ll just have to wait until your broadband catches up and the video downloads some more.

Remember too, that you can drag the play button along the timeline to skip to any point once the video has downloaded. Once the video is on your system it is in cache which means that you won’t be downloading 35mb everytime you view it.

A genuine scorcher

When it’s expected to hit 28 degrees here in London we’re warned on the news of the impending ‘scorcher’ and given invaluable advice about drinking fluids and staying out of the sun. Two 28-degree days in a row and we’re contending with a serious ‘heat wave’. Hence we’re a little cynical of the hot weather warnings.

5 Day Forecast

But I must say that today is almost a genuine ‘scorcher’, even by Brisbane standards – it’s currently 34 degrees outside at 2:30pm. I feel for the many poor people in this city who work in non air-conditioned buildings.

Brighton Sunny

Brighton BeachOn such a bright-on-sunny day, what better way could a newly married couple spend it then to head down to the English coastline and soak up some rays. Brighton is one of those English seaside towns that everyone has heard of and is famous for its pebble beach and pier with a carnival fairground.

I really enjoyed our afternoon down there. We ate some fish n chips by the seaside before touring the pier and then wondering the wonderful boutique shops in the lane ways of the town.
