Ireland – August Bank Holiday

Filed under: Adventuring Overseas| Travel & Holidays

The last public holiday of the year before xmas has now come and gone. Making the most of the 3 day weekend, Louisa and Steve and Michelle and I all flew up to Ireland for a 3 day whirlwind tour.

We hired a car and cruised across the country to the west coast on the first day. The drive across was uninspired but efficient. It wasn’t until we arrived at the Cliffs of Moher that we got to see any of Ireland’s famous country side and magnificent sights.

We also stopped at the Ailwee Caves and explored our way through the magnificent underground tunnels.

We stayed in a lovely B&B at Kilkee and enjoyed a fine meal out in the town before retiring back to the B&B to play some cards.

On Sunday, we drove down to the Dingle Peninsula and enjoyed the crazy awesome beauty of the local area. I definitely recommend spending some time around here.

After Dingle we drove across the country back to Dublin. We enjoyed an Indian for dinner and retired back to our lovely hotel ready for a big day of exploring the next day.

In Dublin we checked out the Book of Kells, enjoyed an awesome breakfast at Lemon, sampled some Guinness in the Gravity Bar and did a bus tour around the town.

It’s amazing how quickly three days can pass when you are having so much fun. Being able to enjoy this trip with our friends, Lou and Steve, made it all the more enjoyable.

Happy Birthday, Benji

Guess whose birthday it is? A few hints: he does the crazy mongo dance; he’s very clever and likes making videos; and his name starts with ‘B’ and ends with ‘en’.

Have a wonderful birthday Benji.
