I did it!

Last weekend I set myself a challenge to run 50 km over a two day period. I figured the best way to approach this was to run 25 km on each day.

So on Saturday, I managed to work the machine at the gym for 2 hours completing 25 km. This is the most I’ve ever run and by early evening I was completely buggered. I didn’t think I would be making it back on Sunday but somehow I picked myself up from the couch and work my way through the challenge. I managed to complete another 32 km in the same 2 hour time period. Result!

I’m a little bit stoked. Maybe one day I could complete 50 km in a single day :)

Weekend in Champagne

A couple of weeks back, we were invited to join our friends Brad and Jackie for a weekend in France’s Champagne region. We were joined by Brad and Jackie’s South African friends, Eugene and Heide and Shaun and Robyn – all to celebrate Brad’s 30th birthday.

It was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. So much fun, lots of Champagne, great laughs, a fantastic Moulin Rouge show and even a nudie run for some.

Loving ourselves sick

We’ve now been in our new house over a week and we are very pleased to say that we just love it.

It’s hard to describe how it is better than our last place – it just is. Higher ceilings, nice couch, very warm, large windows.

We do have one slight concern however and that is that the floor feels like it has a slight incline. That or one of my legs is momentarily longer than the other while I am in the house :)

Sunday night, we ventured out of our cosy love nest to walk around an enchanted forest. This country estate in the middle of London, had its gardens decorated with some impressive lighting and was opened up to the public for the last few weeks. It was quite nice walking around in the dark and seeing all the flora lit up and casting some great shadows and reflections.

Hopefully, we’re going to get hooked up with some decent telly and broadband on Friday, in which I can read through the 120 emails I’ve collected in gmail over the last week. It’d also be nice to post some piccies/video up of our trip to Champagne.

Anyways, better get back to it.

What a cow!

After moving out of our house two weeks ago, we finished up with a property inspection and inventory check. We thought it went well and that we would get our full deposit back.

We thought wrong! Reading our previous story you will see how much of a nuisance our landlady is.

Here’s the letter we received from our school-teacher landlady. To enjoy the letter more, remember to put on that terrible voice of hers.

Dear David ,

With reference to our telephone conversation today re: flat x, B%$&^ Road.

On the whole the flat was presented in good order, for which I thank Ben and Michelle. Just a few problems.

Ben and Michelle pointed out that the dimmer switch in the sitting room had been broken. I would like it fixed could you recomend [sic] an electrician and “in form” [sic] Ben and Michelle of the cost.

The fridge had been turned off and left to defrost all over the kitchen floor. On Sunday my cleaner moped [sic] up the floor cleaned the kitchen cupboards, cooker stove, sink etc. Shower, wash basin + toilet. She also washed and Ironed the curtains.

A light bulb was replaced in the kitchen.

The matress [sic] protector was also replaced in time for the new tenant.

The blue gas lighter in the kitchen didn’t work I shall replace that in due course.

Enclosed are the receipts. I would appreciate an early reply.

Many Thanks,

Angela.
