Master of the universe

Tiger WoodsFor those who regularly keep abreast of sticky, you will remember that I have blogged about playing psp with one of my co-workers during our lunchbreak. The thing is, it’s not something that we do on occasion, it happens almost every day. Sure we’re geeks, but we’re happy geeks.

Each lunch hour consists of a game of Tiger Woods golf, followed by a game of Virtua Tennis. The winner buys the other one lunch. Over the months our form has varied enough to generally even out the lunch payouts between us.

Master of the universeToday, however was a special day. I’m finishing up in my current job next Friday and Alex is on a course next week, so today was our last chance to get in a competition. To make things interesting, I declared that all previous results no longer counted and that whoever was champion today should be declared Master of the universe.

We set up an 18 hole course playing in Central Park New York. One of the hardest courses there is, and proceeded to play. It was a close game, until Alex got himself into an awkward situation trying to putt while standing in the water. This tough break helped propel me to an 8 hole lead, and I managed to hold him off finishing the 18 holes with a devastating 5 hole victory.

It was now up to Alex to come-back for an at-best draw. All he had to do was manage to hold his mental game together and beat me a game of 3 set tennis. Let’s just say that whatever was left of his ego after the obliterating defeat in golf, just couldn’t help him muster the strength, skill or talent to take a single set off me.

I am now and forever officially – Master of the universe.
