Weekend Wrap Up

Jaimee and MichelleThis weekend has seen London experience some of its finest sunshine this year. We celebrated by spending some quality time with our mate Jaimee for her birthday on Friday. We enjoyed a fine meal at The Skylon restaurant as we watched the sunset on Friday night and continued celebrating on Saturday night at The White House, a funky club in a Clapham.

After two wonderful nights out we enjoyed a tasty Sunday morning breakfast down by the river closer to home with our good mates, John and Kirstin, before heading off to visit Gerrod’s parents in the afternoon.

Nothing too exciting or blogworthy but definitely a great relaxing weekend.

My mumma

Isn’t amazing how the dynamic of a family relationship can change over time? It’s no secret that as a child I didn’t get along too well with my mother, always at logger heads due to a variety of reasons.

History and its wounds take time to heal. And heal they have. I am so happy with our relationship as adults. The last 10 years have seen our relationship progress from being cordial to a deep, satisfying friendship.

My lovely mum!

I’ve just spent the last two weeks with my mumma and I have to say I’ve had the best time. I am immensely proud of her and all that she has accomplished in the last few years. A true inspiration.

8 things about me

It’s my turn. After managing to avoid a tag from Ben, I couldn’t escape Lou Lou!

* Each player must post these rules to begin the meme.
* Each player starts with eight random facts or habits about themselves.
* People who get tagged must blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
* Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Ok, here goes…

1. I have never had a pet.

2. I went through a phase of getting my hair permed when I was in early high school. I always was very cool ;)

3. I used to have a recurring dream that I was trying to walk in sand but could never get anywhere.

4. I love watching What Not to Wear.

5. I never stop complaining about not getting a good night’s sleep. Whether it’s taking ages to get to sleep, waking up a lot, lack of deep sleep, or waking early, you name it I whinge about it. Sorry everyone. One day I’ll learn how to do it (or just stop complaining!)!

6. I would love everyone to consider cutting down their meat consumption, even by adopting a vegetarian diet one day a week.

7. I think I need a lot more ‘alone time’ than the average person.

8. I’m sure this isn’t hard to believe, but I have always been a very serious person. My grade 1 report card said ‘Michelle will have worry lines by the time she is in grade 2′.

I tag (but no pressure!!) some of our blogless readers: Ang, Superyam, Dad, Mum, Leisa and The Perrens.

Just leave them as comments on our website!

Press Release

London UndergroundThe recent union strike action rendering the London underground unoperational has caused peak-hour havoc across the city and angered many commuters. The strike action resulted from certain conditions not being met by the underground and city council as they deal with the issues of Metronet’s recent receivership status. Metronet has been the sole maintenance provider for the tube lines but recent over-expenditure saw them go bust.

Steel-ectrix, the sole maintenance provider for the prieb-a-schmicky line is pleased to announce that its trains are 100% operational and running per schedule inspite of all this madness.

Steel-ectrix won the sole rights to run the prieb-a-schmicky line in May 2006 and so far has seen the company’s profits expand and prosper. Unlike the other lines, to ride the prieb-a-schmicky you need to get explicit permission from the Steel-ectrix CEO. This helps prevent overcrowding and helps keep the trains running smoothly.

Companies such as – Alba Industries, J.Simpson Assets and Kidman Pies have all tried unsuccessfully to snatch the maintenance contract away from Steel-ectrix but prieb-a-schmicky has stayed faithful to the company that gave them a chance and always kept them in their best interest.

If you wish to ride the prieb-a-schmicky line please consult the Steel-ectrix information website for a time table and pricing schedule – and as always seek permission from the Steel-ectrix CEO.
