Heading home

Just over 3 years ago we left Australia and embarked on an adventure into the unknown. I had never really travelled outside of Aus/NZ and was anxious and excited about experiencing other parts of the world. We’ve had the best of times and enjoyed many new experiences.

It hasn’t just been about the travel or living the big city life though. It has been more about the flow on effects, like making new friendships and strengthening old ones and finding out who I am me and what I hold dear.

For me the best thing about these experiences is that they can be had anywhere and in many different ways. So I can’t wait to move forward and experience a settled life back home for a while.

  • I desperately want to be around our families and aussie based friends again.
  • I can’t wait to move into our house and spend time buying furniture and doing the place up a bit.
  • I can’t wait to play with the brand new puppy we’re going to get.
  • I can’t wait to go down to the beaches on the northern nsw coast again.

I can wait to go back to work though :(

So until we arrive back, we’re going to enjoy 7 weeks of trekking through South Africa, China and Vietnam. We’ll see all you Brizzymites again soon!

Last night I celebrated my impending last day at work with some colleagues at the local pub. We had a great night playing pool, eating crisps and drinking beers. As it was a school night I didn’t want to stay out too late and inconvenience Michelle and as such was home at the respectable hour of 10:30pm.

I expected to be greeted with love and adulation from said hot wife but instead was met by a grumpy monster, who for the first time in all of existence had managed to get to sleep before I got home.

I hurried through some bake beans on toast and jumped into bed as quickly as I could so not to hinder my wife’s sleeping needs any further.

Pat on the back to me for being loving and considerate.

One hour of blissful, peaceful sleep had passed before Michelle wakes me up and informs me that she still isn’t sleeping and that she wanted my help to make the sofa bed up. Not one without a heart, I got up from my peaceful slumber to help my in-need honey pot.

It was here that the devil played her greatest trick on me. After making up the bed, I went to the bathroom and stopped for a glass of water. I arrived back at the bedroom to find that Michelle had snuck back into the bed and closed the door – indicating clearly that I was to be the one sleeping on the sofa bed.

That’ll teach me not to post videos of her pulling faces on the web!

It pays to know whether someone is taking a picture or a video on the happy snapper!

Street PreacherJust like when you pass the crazy guy preaching on a street corner, your first reaction to this article will be to keep on walking by. However, I urge you to stop and listen – just like the crazy guy would – if you haven’t discovered or understood the joys of RSS feeds.

RSS feeds love you and can change your world. All you have to do is believe that they are the essence of all things good and you will be saved.

If you’re tired of loading up each of your friends blogs one after the other each day only to find they haven’t got anything new for you, then you can find peace with Google Reader.

It’s a webpage that lists all your blogs, showing you which ones have been updated since you last looked. Cut down on the needless browser tabs (or even worse, windows) and learn what your friends and the world are up to as and when something happens.

If your eyes haven’t glazed over yet, press the “Continue reading” link that follows for a step by step guide to setting up google reader with your friends blogs feeds.
