Babies got me to thinking…

Filed under: At home in Australia

After spending some time with Louisa and Steve’s little boy Oliver recently I got to thinking about babies and how they get to thinking.

I know that when I think, I’m forming and speaking the words silently to myself inside my head somewhere.

How do babies who cannot speak yet think then? What goes on inside their little heads?

Last weekend Michelle and I went away with some great friends to Katandra – a property out in the bush down past Beaudesert way – and spent 3 days of glorious weather enjoying the country air.

A night down the Gold Coast

Filed under: At home in Australia

Michelle organized a last minute night away down the Gold Coast staying at the 4 and a 1/2 star Watermark Hotel.

We left work at 4pm Friday to beat the traffic and wound up catching two accidents on the M1 which negated our attempt to get down the coast early. The drive down was fun though as we had a dance playlist on my iPhone pumping some tunes out that we rocked along to.

Upon arrival, we checked in to find our Delux room was high up and with beach front views. Add to that the included buffet breakfast and we scored a scorher of a deal for $150.

We walked the streets of Surfers, crossing paths with a colourful mix of the Gold Coast’s finest locals and tourists. Eventually we settled down at an Italian restaurant for a nice bottle of Pinot and some great dishes. Then it was off to check out Jupiters. We did a 5min walkthrough of the casino floor before plonking ourselves down for 4 or more drinks at the lobby bar. It was great to chill and hang with each other.

This morning we went up to the QDeck – a viewing platform on the 77th floor of the world’s tallest residential building. It was spectacular. The view is amazing. The setup of the viewing floor outstanding. I’ve been up quite a few of the world’s most notable tall buildings but nothing comes close to the experience of Q1.

A simple night away has recharged my batteries. Next, I’m looking forward to seeing Bruno tonight.
