Showering babies!

Filed under: At home in Australia

It seems that once I get motivated to post a story I can’t stop at one! Always two…then the steam runs out!

Anyway, Sunday I helped the lovely Michelle celebrate her baby shower. It’s hard to believe bubs will be here in less than a month when you look at that compact little belly package! I also took the opportunity to play with Michelle’s other new arrival – beautiful baby Perl.

There must be something in the air because that afternoon we visited another new little bundle, Thor, who belongs to our mates, Stuart and Celeste. So cute! These guys are still settling into their new lives in Brisbane after moving from South Africa, via London for a few years. They only landed late last year and it can’t be easy looking after a brand new bub with only a handful of friends and family nearby. But showing just how lovely these guys are, they still managed to remember Ben’s birthday and organise a surprise pressie and cake.

The Year of the 30ths continues

Filed under: At home in Australia

It’s my 30th year so quite a few weekends this year have involved celebrations of all shapes and sizes. The weekend just gone was no exception, with Louisa and Cody’s at one of my fave Brisbane places, Byblos at Portside.

And Saturday afternoon we headed out to Bunya for Cath’s do, complete with real bush band, hay bales, bush dancing, tonnes of yummy food. Something a little different and a real lot of fun. I think most of the kids had the night of their lives! Here’s a pic of the set up before the 100+ guests started piling in. Check out that tree.

bottlecaps competition winner announced

Filed under: At home in Australia

Thanks everyone for entering. The bottle caps have been counted and I can confirm that we had two entries that were almost spot on. However, one was more spot on than the other.

In second place we have John with his answer of FF. Unfortunately he guessed one less than Michelle who guessed 256 taking her closest to the final count of 257 bottle caps.

Congratulations Michelle. Your prize will be delivered shortly.

It’s competition time.

Since moving into our house over a year ago I have been collecting/hoarding the bottle caps from every beer I consumed at home. The end result; a full container of beer bottle caps.

The competition: Guess how many caps are in the container.

The person to guess closest will win a substantial prize.

Note: my definition of substantial may be different to yours.

2 girls and a 30th

Filed under: At home in Australia

Cody, Louisa and BenLast night we celebrated the 30th birthdays of two very special women – Louisa Dahl and Cody Grosert.

Together they put on a very swanky soirée at Byblos down at the new Portside development in Brisbane. It was a fantastic night with delicious food, drink and friends.

I wish both girls the happiest of years. You both deserve it.

Check out photos from the evening here.
