Revolutionary Road is a fantastic film that forces you to tackle some existential questions – Am I happy? Do I have any regrets? and Am I doing what I want to be doing?

It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as husband and wife and is set in a NY suburb in the 1950s. It follows their journey of self discovery as they come to terms with unrealized dreams.

The beauty of this film is what makes it different from other self-discovery film – both characters can’t make their journey alone. Their dreams/aspirations affect each other and it’s refreshing to see a film that highlights the compromise and hardship involved in relationships in a realistic way.

I’m still thinking about this film a day later. You find yourself questioning your happiness with life. Thankfully I’ve got more positives ticked than negatives.
