My lifelong mate Gerrod and his beautiful wife Kristy gave birth to their first child – Oscar Gerrod Thomas – on September 23rd. He is a super special boy and I love him so much. He’s so small and cute and has the worlds most adorable cry as his vocal cords haven’t developed enough to scream the house down yet.

Not to be outdone, best buddy Louisa and her handsome husband Steve gave birth to their second child – Ethan David Dahl – on September 22nd – the day before Oscar. He’s a cutie too and only adds to the awesomeness that is the Dahl family.

It’s amazing how quickly time passes by when you’re life is full and enriched.

Ted just turned 6 week last Tuesday and along with his mother had their first round of post-pregnancy follow up appointments with the paediatrician and obgyn.

All is going well with both – especially Ted – he is eating up a storm, weighing in the 90th percentile of babies his age. The big round head of his is a definite give-away that he knows how to feed :)

Michelle has managed to work Ted into a fairly decent routine now meaning that Daddy isn’t having any sleepless nights – amazing. I’m amazed at how Michelle has taken to motherhood and shown a real talent for rearing our boy.

I’m still loving being a dad. He is just so darn adorable when he looks at you and smiles.

Random mix bag of goodness

I’m three weeks into fatherhood and loving it. The little tyke brings so much joy most of time along with a few hours of grumpiness every evening.

After two weeks of adjusting to having a child, I had to venture back to work last Monday. It was really refreshing going back to work and getting stuck into some exciting new projects. I have found though, that I do struggle with bouts of tiredness throughout the day that were uncommon before having Ted.

Yesterday, I drove the family up to Nambour to see Michelle’s grandparents before driving across to Maroochydoore to have fish n chips by the river to celebrate our nephew Chase’s first birthday. It was our first full day outing for the family and while it had its challenges it went very well.

Today is father’s day – my first – and I woke to a big dish of hot pancakes with ice cream and maple syrup and a cup of tea. Thank you Ted and Mummy for spoiling me today. I love the card you made me.

Being father’s day, Michelle is going to go shopping letting me and Ted have a boys afternoon. I’m thinking some PS3 and maybe a an afternoon nap.

What a life!
